Registration Parents of students entering the Hernando County School System for the first time may register their children at the schools they will attend. HITV - Hernando
Instructional Television Bright House Communications Channel 14 broadcasts 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. We broadcast quality instructional programming for all ages. We also broadcast all School Board Meetings and Workshops. | Career and Technical Education The Tech Prep program blends high school academics with career and technical education. At Nature Coast Technical High School there are distinct career clusters offered. |
ESOL The ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages) program helps students whose first language is not English. It provides the necessary skills and strategies to be successful in all subject areas and their future. |

Literacy Free classes are available for parents who wish to improve their basic skills, learn English as a second language, or study for their GED test. Certified teachers and volunteer tutors assist at several classes located throughout the community. Free childcare is available. For more information, contact H.E.A.R.T. Exceptional
Student Education ESE students who are speech and language impaired, deaf and hard of hearing, visually impaired, deaf/blind, learning disabled, emotionally disturbed, severely emotionally disturbed, physically impaired, mentally handicapped, autistic, hospital or homebound and gifted. | Child Care The Hernando County YMCA offers before and after school child care at all of the Hernando County elementary schools. YMCAs School Age Children program is also available on holidays and professional days, as well as winter and spring breaks. Financial aid is available to those who qualify. Hours are 6:30 am until 6:30 pm. For more information, contact the YMCA at 686-9622. |
Volunteering Volunteer mentors play a large role in the lives of many students in the Hernando County School District through programs such as Big Brothers Big Sisters and Take Stock in Children. Volunteers are also needed in the classroom setting. If you would like to help students as a volunteer, please contact the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP).
